Variation 1 to the Land and Water Regional Plan – the rules which will apply in the Selwyn-Waihora Zone – has been notified. A panel of independent commissioners heard submissions and made recommendations to Environment Canterbury. The new rules were approved by the ECan Commissioners on April 23. You can find out about the process and read the decision version of the variation to the rules in Selwyn-Waihora on ECan’s website.

The rules outlined in Variation 1 of the proposed Land and Water Regional Plan will affect how nitrogen loss limits are managed, what land can be used for, and restricts water transfers.

There will be a series of public meetings over the next two weeks – your chance to find out what this will mean for you.
